Reflections & technical notes
Inspiration: Titan Fall 2 Parkour
I’ve played Titan Fall 2 before, and its parkour system was just mind-blowing. I mean, it really left a big impression on me. So I started thinking, why not try to copy those controls using Unity Engine? That sounded like a fun challenge.
I added some extra moves on top of that, like front flips and back flips to make it more exciting. This was just a practice project, nothing too serious, I had so much fun working on it. It was one of those projects that didn’t feel like work at all.
Controls
The game is controlled with a keyboard and mouse, which is basically the same as the operation of common first - person shooter (FPS) games. Players who are familiar with such games can get started quickly.
Level Design
This game has only one level. Players need to move in a "box" space made up of many squares. The box keeps flashing lights of various colors and continuously floats and moves, creating a mysterious spatial atmosphere. The unique visual effects will directly interfere with the player's judgment, thereby slightly increasing the game difficulty.
First-Person View
This is the internal perspective, which is the player's perspective.
3D Models & Platforms
In the game, there are all kinds of 3D models. Most of them are platforms and walls. These platforms and walls are really important because they give players places to stand and also create paths that lead to the end of the game. Then there's the exit portal. That's the destination players need to reach. Once they get there, they finish the game.
Walls are the core elements of this game. They're also the main areas where players can do parkour moves.
The Camera as a Body
In this game, players don't have a physical body. The camera itself serves as their body, so all actions are done by controlling the camera. The camera's shaking design helps players feel like they have a body of their own.
UI Design
In terms of UI design, I used a font with QR code elements, which perfectly complements the game's digital theme.
